This was probably the best and most informative interview I’ve seen on Remix Report.

Thanks guys for a great hour of entertainment. I truly appreciate the efforts that you put into this great resource here on the web for us DJ’s.

What Deville said was very enlightening and its true, I’m one of the younger DJ’s and I have never owned or even felt real vinyl. I might have never experienced going to record stores and digging for tracks, but I have experienced endless searching throughout the web looking for that golden track or blog. In fact I’ve got a library of 250,000 songs that I’ve amassed just through searching and purchasing. Its tough and sometimes its not the best part about DJin but your efforts are definitely paid off in the long run.

Again, thx for another great episode, keep it up and I would definitely purchase a remix report t-shirt!

Work was quiet this afternoon so I managed to watch/listen to the entire interview. Incredible insight provided by DJ Deville on every aspect of DJing.

I highly agree on your sentiments and Deville’s on Dutch House and Electro in general. It definitely is the type of genre that has to be quickmixed in order to be effective in Top 40 crowds… I see why alot of people bring in Dutch House with Top 40 vocals over them… Play em quick and on to the next one… Great input on walking the fine line…

Vinyl. I still love vinyl. I can never part with my hiphop, house and drum&bass/jungle vinyl collections. The amount of time, effort & money placed into finding all those stacks of wax. It was a bitch moving all 6,000 pieces to my new house. Thanks @DJ_GregJ for lugging he majority of the collection into a U-Haul. LOL Seriously, Owning a collection of vinyl will never compare to buying a laptop and copping another persons MP3 collection. Every DJ’s collection has all sorts of gems only said DJ and possibly close associates should have access to. I consider GREG J to be one of my best friends in the world and he will only pass me certain stuff… Thats the beauty of real DJ’s. We all got our own secret weapons… Those hype breaks others dont, Those rare white label bootlegs from NYC, SF or UK that people never ripped to MP3.

The irony of this interview is that during this hour, The phones are quiet at work and I am sorting this entire weeks’ musical digs into my Serato. Deville is right. Its a never ending job to be a real DJ, to wake up thinking of edits, making remixes, blends, transitions and going to sleep sorting tracks and files…. get files, bpm scan, key scan, put into appropriate folders and crates, tag, all that.

Much respect to Deville. Big fan of your remixes and edits. Thanks JD & Spring for the awesome service you provide to the DJs!
