Topic of The Week: Requests

February 6th, 2012 3 comments

Back with another TOTW!   This time, it’s the topic that DJs never get tired of complaining about — Requests.  Maybe you don’t mind them, but if you do….just how bad are they and how much do they annoy you?

Topic of The Week: Auto Sync Vs. Segways/Transitions

January 24th, 2012 21 comments

Been gone for a few weeks, now we’re back with the jump off!  In this case, the jump off is the Topic of The Week.  Figured we’d give you guys/girls one homework assignment at a time, and now that Remi voting is over, it’s Topic time once again.

In this week’s topic, we wanna know which is the worse of two evils.  The auto sync button has been the subject of many facebook posts and sparked tons of comments.  But not many people ever mention the danger of segways and transitions.  (For the record, we are talking about song to song transitions that connect two songs.)  With out getting into it too much right now, we’re curious to see which you think is worse, and poses the most damage to the “legit” djs of the world.  Can’t wait to discuss this in next week’s Weekend Recap!

Topic of the Week: Full Time Vs. Part Time DJing

December 19th, 2011 15 comments

TOTW time! One of our buddies really wants to take his DJing career more serious.   Along with gigging, that means really stepping up his production game.  The question is, is it possible to do this while keeping a separate full time job?  We have friends in the game (good DJs) that do keep jobs, but also many who rely on DJing for all their income.  We wanna know what you guys think on this subject.  Please fill out the survey and leave us a comment telling us why you voted the way you did.

December 14th, 2011 No comments

Thanks to all of you that take the time to vote each week and to leave comments!

This week’s topic…..is not about DJing per se…..well actually not at all.  But it’s something that everyone seems to have an opinion on:  The man….Tim Tebow.
Whether you love him or hate him, one thing has been established….an NFL team can win with him playing QB.   Beyond that is up for debate!  Please fill out the survey below and explain your vote in the comment section.

So….a friend of ours recently booked DJ Bl3nd.  For those who don’t know him, Bl3nd is a House DJ who became popular via YouTube by making videos like this:

Definitely very interesting :)  Needless to say, Bl3nd has a huge following and the show was extremely successful.  Now, whether you already knew of him, or just watched the video, you can imagine how many haters he has.  The question is, is that hate deserved?  Please answer the survey questions below and leave a comment letting us know why you voted the way you did!

Topic of the Week: Nights Off

November 28th, 2011 2 comments

Hope everyone had a great holiday and enjoyed your night(s) off if you had any!  Speaking of that….

This week’s topic —  What do DJs do on club nights that they don’t have to work?  We saw a lot of posts on facebook of DJs who had the chance to go out during this Thanksgiving break.  Do you prefer to stay in and chill, or do you like to go out and make up for all the fun you usually miss on weekends?   If you do go out, how much attention do you pay to what the DJ is doing?  Please fill out the survey below and leave a comment to tell us why you voted the way you did!

Topic of the Week: Promotion Vs. Over-Promotion

November 21st, 2011 1 comment

Thanks for all the votes and comments on last week’s Topic.  We’ll go over the results manana in our Weekend Recap.

This week’s topic is something we’ve been wanting to discuss for a while now.    We just saw Halloween pass, and now we’ve got Thanksgiving Eve and NYE coming up very soon.  That means 4 things:  flyers, tweets, facebook posts and event invites!  Are these 4 tools great marketing tactics, or are they just annoying over-used tricks that will drive us into an insane asylum??  Please answer the questions below and let us know how you feel in the comment section!

Topic of the Week: The Opening DJ

November 13th, 2011 4 comments

Thanks to everyone who voted and commented on last week’s survery.  It was very helpful to us to see how you felt about our site — and please if you haven’t checked it out yet and voted, PLEASE DO!  Again, we’ll be discussing those results and your comments tomorrow in our Weekend Recap.

And now this week’s topic…The Opener.  We figured since we were revisiting and updating our Opening Playlist, this was a good time to see how everyone felt about this topic.  Whether you love hearing who just burned who, or you just can’t stand to listen to this subject anymore, there’s one thing that can’t be denied:  This position isn’t going anyway anytime soon and it’s very important that the worker understand their job!  So please, let us know how you feel by voting in the survey below as well as joining in the discussion and leaving a comment.

Topic of the Week: Our Site, Our Impact, & Our Content

November 6th, 2011 8 comments

As always, a very big THANK YOU to those who participated in last week’s topic.  The results of our “Thriller” voting and discussion will be broken down in tomorrow’s Weekend Recap.

Now it’s on to the next one!   In this past week’s Playlist Wednesday comments, “Jack”, who is somewhat of a regular in the comments section, called out JD and I for “perpetuating lame trends” among other things.   CHECK JACKS COMMENTS HERE (We are referring primarily to his first one).  In a nutshell, Jack’s main point seems to be that we are using whatever influence we have to promote evil (bad music and remixes) to the masses.  JD and myself are always looking for good and bad feedback, so we did appreciate Jack’s honesty.   It definitely made us curious to see what the rest of our visitors thought, hence the survey questions below.

We can’t wait to see the results of this one, and please leave a comment explaining your thoughts!!  P.S.  Judging from the comments and emails we get, we know we have many fans of our site, and we are very grateful for that!!  But no need to defend us here — since this really isn’t about that.  This is more about the remixes and music we discuss and what direction you would like to see us go.
